Internal Posting - This position is open to current DAC employees

This is an anticipated vacancy. 10/10/24.
The primary purpose of the Information Processing technician is to
promote and support the Health Care Electronic Record for Offenders
(HERO) system, as well as provide Help Desk support to health care
staff from all NC DAC facilities, vocational centers and other
users.
The position must possess the technical and computer skills
necessary to provide consultation, support, and/or training to the
end users of the electronic health care record. Typical work
activities for this position include the following: monitor,
respond to, and provide solutions for the Electronic Health Care
Record support requests received via phone, email, or by electronic
Help Desk Requests and provide responses in a timely manner. Work
with the Health Care informatics team, IT staff and vendors as
necessary to resolve problems and fulfill service requests,
documentations taken, and confirm user satisfaction. Additionally,
this position will be expected to have an understanding of basic
troubleshooting techniques and principles, work independently to
resolve routine non-complex tasks, participate in small projects,
develop health care data collection systems and compile reports for
management.
Further responsibilities of the employee include utilization of
other computerized mainframe systems and software packages in a
WINDOWS environment and other systems such as Novell, Outlook,
Microsoft Office and the electronic healthcare record program. The
applicant should promote open communication, teamwork and have
strong organizational skills. Position directly supports the
Clinical Informatics Consultants and Clinical Informatics Director,
as well as acts as a liaison between the Informatics Team and DAC
Health Services Staff.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with

Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies

custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction

The Division of Comprehensive Health Services is dedicated to

custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive
full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their
release.
The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental
services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed
healthcare administration services work together to provide
emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as
preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate
with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons
throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being
towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and
decreasing recidivism.
