leadership of Living Water Baptist Church to guide personal and ministry development



--- Pastor-in-Training will serve in various Pastoral Ministry roles in Living Water Baptist Church



including but not limited to: Preaching, Teaching, Church Administration, Care and Counseling,



Pastoral Visitations, Outreach, Worship Planning, and any other duties deemed beneficial by the



Pastoral Staff of Living Water Baptist Church. Being Licensed to the Gospel Ministry affords the



Pastor-in-Training the rights and responsibilities to these duties.



--- Pastor-in-Training will work to identify and engage Chinese speaking residents in/around Horry



County, SC and submit quarterly reports to Living Water Baptist Church leadership and South



Carolina Baptist Convention Church Planting Team concerning contacts with Chinese speaking



people in the area as well as Pastoral Ministry involvement to provide progress updates.



--- Pastor-in-Training will participate in ongoing training opportunities with other church planters



and residents provided through the ministry of the partnering churches of the Southern Baptist



Convention, the South Carolina Baptist Convention, the Waccamaw Baptist as Association well



as meeting with other pastors/church planters in the state/region as well as other Chinese



speaking churches and pastors. This will assist with growth as a pastor/church planter



--- Pastor-in-Training will work to satisfy the necessary steps defined by the South Carolina Baptist



Convention Church Planting team and Living Water Baptist Church to prepare for launch of the



church plant (i.e. Church Planter Training, Church Planter Coaching, and any items identified in



the Church Planter Assessment for attention) Pastor-in-Training will lead/partner with Chinese



speaking Christians already involved in Bible study together to lead them through the process of



starting a Chinese speaking Church.



--- Pastor-in-Training will identify Chinese speaking residents throughout Horry County in hopes of



sharing the Gospel and inviting them to learn more about the potential church plant.



--- Pastor-in-Training will participate in the 11 Training Sessions provided by the SCBC/NAMB



covering 12 competencies



--- Pastor-in-Training will work to grow in the areas defined by the Church Planting Assessment.



The Coaching and Mentoring by the Living Water Baptist Church Staff as well as the Church



Planting Team of the South Carolina Baptist Convention will help determine a specific plan to



grow in these defined areas



--- Pastor-in-Training will begin to develop a prayer list of pastors, potential individual



partners/team members, and churches to prepare for the potential Church Plant



--- Pastor-in-Training will attend staff meetings with the Living Water Baptist Church Pastoral Staff



and meetings with various leadership/staff members at Living Water Baptist Church (at the



request of church staff)



--- Pastor-in-Training will prepare weekly sermons/lessons during the duration of the position. This



will give the candidate valuable experience in Bible study, sermon preparation, teaching



preparation, and create a library of sermons/lessons for both current and future use.



--- Pastor-in-Training will meet consistently with designated staff member (Associate Pastor) for



coaching/mentoring--- Pastor-in-Training will keep consistent office hours at Living Water Baptist Church as part of a



40-hour work week



--- Pastor-in-Training will spend some (not to exceed 50%) work hours a week networking with



other churches and building relationships with other Chinese speaking residents.



--- Pastor-in-Training will provide a detailed timeline for the potential Chinese church plant



(beginning with God's call on his life and culminating with launch of church plant)



--- Pastor-in-Training will develop a budgeting strategy & work on a budget for the first year/5



years of the church plant for financial growth



Requirements:



--- Masters of Divinity, Theology, or Pastoral Studies



--- South Carolina Baptist Convention/North American Board Training Sessions (11 total)



--- Licensed and/or Ordained to the Gospel Ministry



--- Fluent in Chinese
