Job Description:
Job Purpose:The ultramodern civilian medical treatment facility
at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center is seeking eligible
Board-Certified Primary Care Physicians to provide a range of
necessary Primary Care services with the highest standard of
quality-oriented care to eligible beneficiaries of the Department
of Veterans Affairs, Fayetteville. All services must meet or exceed
the National Standards established by the American Board of Family
Medicine. Hours for Service/Shifts:Candidates should be available
to do the shifts needed to meet the requirements at hand.Total
annual hours per FTE = 2080 hours which equates to a minimum of
eighty (80) hours every two (2) weeks.Business Hours: 8:00 a.m. -
4:30 p.m.Normal clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Clinic or
Operating Room (OR) Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a
30-minute lunch. Location:

$301,600.00 - $343,200.00 per annum Background, Skills and
Qualifications:
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine from
any US State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the
District of Columbia; candidates who do not have, or ever had a
license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked,
surrendered, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or denied upon
application, will not be considered for the purposes of this
contract
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field within the last
five years. VA experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Graduate of an approved school of Medicine
- Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Family
Practice as a Primary Care Physician
- Candidates must be able to speak, understand, read, and write
English fluently
- Possess certification of Standard Infection Control Measures
Immunizations for PPD, Measles, Mumps
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency
- Registration/certification by national/medical associations
shall continue to meet the minimum standards for CME to remain
current. CME hours to be reported for credentialing and for
tracking and are required for both privileging and
re-privileging
- Evidence of completing and passing generic self-study
blood-borne pathogen training
- NPI and DEA numbers
- Proof of Indemnification and Medical Liability InsuranceDuties
and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Direct Patient Care estimated 95% of the
time
- Responsible for clinic appointments and follow-up of
labs/imaging/procedures
- Responsible for providing Family Practice and interventional
Family Practice consultative services for: assessment, diagnostic
work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient
assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient
education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting; outpatient
include both scheduled and unscheduled Veterans.
- Responsible for ordering and evaluation of diagnostic tests as
appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral.
- Responsible for recording/documenting health appraisal
information, clinical assessments, treatment decision, plan of
care,
- Responsible for ongoing management and therapeutic
outcomes,
- Responsible for ordering medications, diagnostic test and
making referral consultations where needed for every patient
encounter
- Responsible for recording which will be accomplished using the
electronic comprehensive patient record system (CPRS) and will be
completed on the day of the encounter
- Clinic Responsibilities include being present on time for
clinic start times as documented by physical presence in the
clinics at the scheduled start times
- Responsible for communication of Test Results through
mechanisms which must be in-place to provide notification of test
results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA
Directive 1088, (Communicating Test Results to Providers and
Patients)
- Responsible for following all established medication policies
and procedures and ensuring that no sample medications are to be
provided to patients.
- Responsible for discharge education and follow up instructions
that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency
department patients
- Responsible for utilizing around 5% of time which is not for
clinical support for administrative participation in once to twice
monthly peer review case review, Ongoing Providers Performance
Evaluation (OPPE) participation, and morbidity & mortality
conferences as appropriate
- Responsible for signing in and out when in attendance. Time
sheets will be used by the COR to confirm hours/day and services
provided
- Responsible for covering the range of Family Practice services
as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical
treatment facility and the standard of care which should be of a
quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national
standards
