Job Title: Mammography TechnologistFLSA Status: Non-ExemptAbout

cost-efficient, comprehensive healthcare to the people of Eastern
North Carolina.Location & commitmentsFT/PT/Temp/PRN role based at
our Greenville (other) location, Monday-Friday, 8a.m. - 5
p.m.Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care,
tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely
manner.Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be
necessary.Supervision Received:--Reports to Diagnostics
Manager.Supervision Exercised:--None.Typical Physical
Demands:--Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand
coordination for operation and repair of all department equipment.
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires eyesight
correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review digital
films.Typical Working Conditions:Frequent exposure to communicable
diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal
preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic
environment.About the roleOperates radiologic equipment to make
clinical diagnostic X-ray films as directed by physicians and
performs routine diagnostic procedures.Responsibilities: (This list
may not include all the duties assigned.)Demonstrates knowledge of
practice for the radiographer and competency in diagnostic
procedures.Provides documentation of individual patient care
according to history and clinical information on mammogram requests
and quality assurance documentation as directed.Explains
appropriately the rationale of mammography procedures to
patients.Recognizes changes in patient status and appropriately
communicates to nurse and/or doctor.Selects proper technical
factors on an individual patient basis by use of a technique chart
to produce quality mammograms.Exhibits a working knowledge of
principles, practice and procedures involved in the operation of
mammography equipment.Anticipates and recognizes safety hazards,
legal liabilities and intervenes through appropriate
channels.Provides and promotes quality care in accordance with
office policies and procedures.Establishes and maintains effective
working relationship with co-workers, patients and other employees
of the department and office.Recognizes individual accountability
for and participates in cost containment goals of the department
and office.Demonstrates continuous self-improvement through
utilization of knowledge gained in clinical experience in
mammography.Participates in in-service education, staff meetings
and other continuing education programs to maintain optimal
technical knowledge. Participates in continuing education and
in-services outside Physicians East, P.A. office for 15 hours of
continuing education every three years specific to mammography and
a total of 24 hours every two years for radiology.Exhibits ability
to problem solve, prioritize and evaluate patient care
activities.Provides a role model for peers and other health care
personnel.Adheres to department and office policies.Accepts and
supports learning needs of new staff.Performs procedures requiring
independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative.Evaluates
equipment breakdowns and assesses the need for service.Responsible
for quality control of mammograms processed.Responsible for
charging procedures performed.Adheres to the mammography protocol
for screening and diagnostic mammograms as determined by the PE
Board of Directors.Maintains area and equipment in a clean and
orderly fashion.Attends safety classes and other continuing
education classes as offered by Physicians East, P.A.Maintains
yearly CPR certification.This job description in no way states or

her supervisor.Candidate requirementsMust have AA degree in
Radiologic Technology and RTR certification. Must have completed
mammography course and be registered in Mammography. High-energy
person who enjoys working as part of a team. One to two years of
